Erika & Hans' planning bio

I work nights at the newspaper, so I don't get off work until 2 a.m. Sometimes Hans will meet me and we'll go get a snack, just so that we can see each other that day (our schedules tend to be a bit opposite). On this particular Monday night, he mentioned that he was tired and so he'd be going to be early. I was a little disappointed because I was having a bad day, but just said ok. He needs his sleep! Then right before two I get an IM from him saying that our friend Jared from church called and someone was sick and needed help. He said he was going to go help Jared and that he'd stop by afterward. I took my time at work, thinking that he'd be a while. As I pulled up to my house I was thinking "that's weird, I don't remember leaving my bathroom light on..." but just dismissed the thought. I got out of the car and went to the front gate and then saw rose petals leading up the sidewalk. I realized Hans had lied and I'm thinking "oh crap, I don't think I even brushed my hair today and it's 2:30 a.m. and I probably have huge bags under my eyes. Oh no."

I go in the front door. The lights are off but it's bright inside because every where one could possible fit, there is a burning candle. They were every where. And anywhere there wasn't a candle, there were rose petals. And Hans was sitting on a barstool looking dashing and handsome in a suit. He comes over and takes my hands and says some very nice things and then gets down on one knee and pulls out the beautiful ring. I don't think I could say anything, but I'm pretty sure I nodded.

Then my roommates Lauren and Liz came down and took pictures and we had some sparkling apple cider to celebrate :) It was simple, but better than I could have imagined.

It's a platinum Tiffany Legacy ring, cushion cut center stone surrounded by bead-set diamonds. I love, love, love my ring. It's the ring I always dreamed of having, but never thought would be possible to afford. FI is a rock star and found it for way cheaper on craigslist and simply had to take it to Tiffany to have it verified, cleaned and polished, and have the warranty transferred into our name. LOVE it!
