Erika & Hans' planning bio

Brides' cake

Picture
Hans called this "the most best thing to ever enter his mouth."

I'm salivating just thinking about it. We're using the wonderful folks at Torte Bella. Their prices are amazing and the cake was the best we had out of our five or six tastings. And they make their cakes on the day of, which we liked. Susan has been a dream working with us through many changes and Tracy's cakes are unbelievably moist and have great, unique flavor.

Our three-tiered cake will have the top two tiers of Spice caked, filled with dark chocolate buttercream. The bottom layer is white-velvet with an oreo cookie filling. The whole cake is frosted with cream cheese butter cream in what Torte Bella calls this "ruffle" pattern, and topped with fresh berries.

Grooms' cake

Picture
We are HUGE friends fans, so our groom's cake reflects that.

It's shaped like the magnadoodle that hangs on the back of Chandler and Joey's door through out the entire series. Since each episode is titled "the one where" or "the one with," we'll have written "The one where Hans and Erika got married." Anyone remember the Ross/Rachel rollercoaster? At one point, Phoebe tells Ross that Rachel is "his lobster" because lobsters mate for life and you can seem them walking around the tank holding claws when they're old. So we have a cute drawing off two lobsters holding claws, courtesy of the wonderfully talented Don Tate at the American-Statesman.

This cake will be the most heavenly chocolate, filled with raspberry preserves, and covered in chocolate buttercream. Yum.
